The course start approaches

Thank you for visiting and taking the time out to read about my journey.

So, the course has been signed up for, the funding is in place and I have received the textbooks but now await the course itself opening but being someone who enjoys reading and have always been a student who ends up being ahead of where the study is meant to be I have began to read the textbooks and found it very interesting.  I decided to do some work on the required submissions to enable me to revisit them and edit as required before completing submission and have found myself to be due to start in October and have my work for completion in January so far ready to go and awaiting the course opening for submission.

How have I found it?  It is challenging because the coursework itself is making so much sense to me and works logically which is important for how I think and process information which is meaning I am getting excited about the course but also trying to not become that person who only talks about my study.  It is an unusual thing to experience as it is so many years since I last studied and you become somewhat stuck in a rut with working life but this has really given me some positive thinking alongside focus on something I am keen to do which is really great.

Am I worried about the course?  I recognise that the fact this is the early stages of the course and so will be the simpler parts which means it is important to remain focused and continue to give time to the course so that when things do become more challenging I am able to not feel overwhelmed.  The fact that the essays at present are smaller word counts to get you used to writing essays is something that I find more frustrating as I am someone who is able to write out long essays full of facts and evidence which for me means that when the course subject becomes more complex I will at least have the ability to create longer essays like I would love to do just now.

The fact I am doing this as a distance learning course is a massive help as being around a lot of people would cause my anxiety to be impacted too much but with a home based learning experience I have taken steps to have the stationery I feel is suited to how I study and set out where I will study so that it becomes routine and consistent.  I feel that when it comes to studying we need to all acknowledge that while we are told the best way to study and take notes is to type everything on your laptop is maybe not going to be suited to everyone and for me personally I prefer to sit and write things out by hand and do a few different versions to build things to feel correct and have the right flow before I then type up what I have created within my notebooks.

If you are starting out your own journey then please do comment and let people know how you are finding things, how your study plan looks, any tips you have.  Being a student is a challenge for anyone but having support is important and even comments on a blog like this can help others to see they are not the only person in the position so it can help people more than you know.

Time to head off and get some more reading done but I will aim to keep you updated with the study and how things go and please do reach out via commenting if there are questions or comments you'd like to ask/make.
